SAA: Philanthropy + Service

When we talk about building a culture of philanthropy, we are talking about more than just monetary support. Join us in our philanthropic efforts to give back to Drake and the surrounding community!

It’s not just about the amount a person gives or putting your name on a classroom. Giving to Drake, at any level, is vital to creating the Drake experience for each and every student. SAA instills the importance of giving of your time, talents and treasures. Whether we are hosting a free Halloween Carnival for underserved children and families in our neighborhood or inspiring students to share their love for Drake during I Heart Drake week and give during All In, Drake students are invested in the importance of philanthropy and service during their Drake experience.

Halloween Hoops | A collaboration with student groups to provide a free Halloween carnival for families in the Drake neighborhood.

Ongoing Service | SAA supports the Des Moines Refugee Support and Little Free Pantry program on a monthly basis throughout the school year.

I Heart Drake Week | A celebration and sharing of our love for All Things Drake!

All-In | 24 hour Day of Giving back to Drake featuring fun student events throughout the day.

Donations | Through the generosity of Maddie’s Circle Foundation, SAA donates a portion of their funds to multiple charities each semester. Past recipients have been IMPACT, Sprout Garden, Coalition of Black Students, Des Moines Refugee Support, etc.

Paul Morrison Spruce Up Day | A neighborhood spruce up event collecting litter to honor the Drake coach, mentor, and faculty member, Paul Morrison.
