Let's DU Lunch - Jonathan Azu and Louis Carr

Jonathan Azu, BN’99, and Louis Carr, JO’78, met when their music industry career paths crossed, and a mutual Drake experience sealed the deal: The two Bulldogs became friends, mentors, and collaborators.

During this session of Let’s DU Lunch, Jonathan and Louis will lead a conversation about professional collaboration, mentoring, giving back, and friendship as they share about their career and leadership experiences.

Jonathan Azu

Jonathan Azu, a two-time Billboard 40 Under 40 Power Player, is the founder of Culture Collective. With a focus on clients of color, Culture Collective is driving change within its industry while also representing creatives who are redefining their culture. Previously, he was EVP & General Manager of Red Light Management, EVP of Operations and Business Development for Superfly Presents and was VP of Music Partnerships for CBS Radio. In his career, Jonathan has overseen the development of many notable artists and brands including Anita Baker, Emily King, Cory Henry, Jośe James, Luke James, Michelle Williams, Miguel, Kool & the Gang, Lecrae, Leon Thomas, Outside Lands Music Festival, Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and many more.

Louis Carr

Louis Carr, has been with BET Networks for 34 years, serving as the President of Media Sales for the last 18 years. During his tenure with the company, Carr has transformed the multicultural space for some of the world's biggest brands. In addition to Carr's stellar professional career, he has had a long-term commitment to young people and his community. Carr founded the Louis Carr Internship Foundation (LCIF) 17 years ago to help improve diversity in corporate America through paid internships. Carr has authored two books, Dirty Little Secrets and Little Black Book: Daily Motivations for Business and Personal Growth. Read more about Louis here.

 

About the Program: Let's DU Lunch is a long-standing Des Moines event that brings together the Bulldog community for lunch, speakers, and networking. We are excited to take the event virtual and welcome alumni from everywhere.
