Robert Ray served as the governor of Iowa (1969-1983), interim mayor of the City of Des Moines, and president of Drake University (1998). As governor he was instrumental in the resettlement of southeast Asian refugees to the state and helped launch the Institute for Character Development at the University. A panel of speakers will discuss Gov. Ray’s impact nationally and locally—as a state leader, philanthropist, and humanitarian.
