Your support makes it possible for the Institute to provide students, scholars, the community, the state, and the nation with access to a treasure trove of congressional archival resources, rigorous nonpartisan public policy research and study, and dynamic, thoughtful events addressing the major public policy issues of our time.

Donation Designation Options

Here are the options for designating your donation:

Support The Harkin Institute Operations
Operational funding provides essential support of the Institute's operating budget. Support of The Harkin Institute operations address the most immediate needs of the Institute including programming, research, events, and day-to-day expenses.

Support a legacy: The Harkin Institute Endowment
You may permanently invest in The Harkin Institute through a gift to the endowment. When the market value of the invested principal increases, so does the annual payout - providing the Institute with an ongoing source of funding that will grow over time.

Support students: The Harkin Institute D.C. Student Experience Fund
A gift to this fund provides financial assistance for a Drake undergraduate student with financial need who has secured a summer internship in a congressional office, government agency, or nonprofit organization in Washington, D.C.  Students are selected through an application process by The Harkin Institute D.C. Experience Scholarship Committee.

The Harkin Institute Wellness and Nutrition Policy Fund

The Harkin Institute Wellness and Nutrition Policy Fund supports the Institute’s work and Senator Harkin’s work of seeking health care system reforms and discussions to bring a focus to prevention, wellness, medical research and food and drug safety. The Institute carries on this legacy and work today through research, education, outreach and events.

 

The Harkin Institute Disability Policy Fund 

The Harkin Institute Disability Policy Fund supports research, education, and outreach that advances Senator Harkin’s legacy of striving to create a world where every person with a disability has access to competitive, integrated employment. 

 

Harkin International Disability Employment Summit 

A world-renowned, international Summit, which brings together individuals from various sectors and from across the globe to identify, create, and share strategies for increasing competitive, integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities around the world. 

 

The Harkin Institute Retirement Security Policy Fund 

The Harkin Institute Retirement Security Policy Fund supports Senator Harkin’s dedication to the right to retire with dignity and allows the Institute to advance research, education, and outreach in financial literacy and wellness, and retirement savings adequacy and inequality.  

 

The Harkin Institute Labor and Employment Policy Fund

The Labor and Employment Policy Fund supports the Institute’s work in championing labor and employment rights for all citizens through research, education, outreach and events.
