Upcoming exhibition of some paintings at the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell, Maine. "Kid McGuire: So Full of Myself, I May Fluoresce."

Artist Satement:

"I have suffered. Oh, how I've suffered.

I used to be a lugubrious and dyspeptic misanthrope. You probably wouldn't want to know me then. But I paid my dues. I looked deep inside me- past the glottis even. My paintings used to be apocalyptic, angry, and dark. But now, they are a lot more fun! I have a fun side! Go ahead and call me Pollyanna now-but why would you? My name isn't Pollyanna. That would be dumb.

I am hoping someone will steal one of my paintings. I would feel so flattered.

And then there could be a movie about the "heist." And I would be played by Tom Cruise and there'd be lots of car chases and shots of chanting monks with a flashback to Phillip the Sensible. (Sort of "The Italian Job" meets "The Da Vinci Code.")

And the movie would be thick with twins separated at birth and there would be lots of scary music and lots of computer keyboard clicking sounds. And maybe a darker side with a Heathcliffy character.

The audience would get to the last scene and find out that the good guys were really the bad guys and the bad guys were, like, really bad guys and the patrons would leave the theater mildly perplexed assuming they could follow the plot at all." - Kid McGuire
