Celebration of Scholarships

Lou Ann Simpson, BN'66, LW'68, department chair and professor of business law at Drake, was keynote speaker at the November 9, 2012, luncheon that celebrated scholarships for 2012-13 academic year.

The Lou Ann Simpson Scholarship was created to honor Ms. Simpson by a former student. Simpson says the student inspired her, so each year she contributes a modest amount, which has allowed the fund to grow over time.

Laura McGuire, a business major with a concentration in business law, was this year’s recipient of the Lou Ann Simpson Scholarship and spoke at the luncheon. Ms. McGuire told how she grew up in a family with seven siblings and was able to attend Drake because of scholarship assistance and financial aid.
