Volunteer Opportunities

Central Iowa Regional Advisory Board (CIRAB): Committees have a yearly commitment of about three to four hours per month, including either a monthly in-person meeting or a conference call and follow-up support. Below is an overview of the committees within the CIRAB and their function:

  • National Programming Committee: Implements national programs that stem from the National Alumni Board. These events include but are not limited to DU Good Day, National Game Watches, and Drake Me Out to the Ball Game.
  • Special Events Committee: Leads the charge of planning social events around central Iowa. Some of these events include Cheers to DU! (a monthly happy hour), the Drake Summer Series, family-friendly events, holiday parties at Drake, etc.
  • Professional Development Committee: Responsible for creating and implementing programs that have an emphasis on business and leadership development, and provide valuable networking opportunities for alumni.
  • Community Engagement Committee: Charged with expanding Drake's presence in the central Iowa community.
  • Campus Engagement Committee: Work as liaisons to highlight and promote programs happening on Drake's campus.
  • Young Alumni Committee: Focuses on advancing engagement of alumni less than 10 years out of school.

Event volunteer: There are several times throughout the year that we need the support of our central Iowa volunteers to lend their time and represent Drake at events around the community. Some examples include the Relays Alumni Tent, Principal Charity Classic, RAGBRAI College Day, and Drake Day at the Iowa State Fair.

Admissions: Alumni are some of our greatest ambassadors for the Drake experience. If you're interested in working with prospective students, contact Wendy Diekema, assistant director, alumni admission relations, at wendy.diekema@drake.edu or 515-271-2012.

Campus engagement: Speak about your area of expertise with a Drake class or student organization. Connect with faculty.

Let us know how you'd like to volunteer!
